Naomi, Aron, Hannah & Lois Serving with MAF in Arnhem Land ![]() Eric grew up in Holland and had a great interest in flying from a young age. When he was 16, he started gliding and, at 18 years old, sensed a call from God to become a missionary. Not long after that, God planted a seed in Eric’s heart that started to grow towards serving with MAF as a pilot. Adriana also grew up in Holland where she studied and worked as an occupational therapist, assisting people with mental and/or physical handicaps. Adriana has a big heart to serve God and people in need.
In 1997, Eric married Adriana, and in 2007 they immigrated with their family to New Zealand. After gaining permanent residency, Eric started his commercial flight training at Nelson Aviation College in August 2008. Prior to that, he did a course on the Perspectives on the World Christian Movement, which helped him to get a picture of God's divine plan with missionary work in this day and age.
During Eric's flight training and studies, Adriana has always been very supportive and encouraging which helped to create a solid home foundation. Currently, she is a full-time mother, busy homeschooling Naomi (11), Aron (9), Hannah (5) and Lois (2), and dedicated to raising the children in God’s ways. Their 5th child is due in late May 2010. Adriana strongly sees God's hand in leading the family towards serving with MAF.
Eric and Adriana consider it a big challenge to go and live in a cross-cultural environment with 5 children. Their goal is to combine Eric's passion for flying with bringing the good news of Jesus Christ, as well as hope and help, to those in need living in remote places of this world.
